About Us

Children playing 'trains'

Blues Pre-School Nursery in Bishop's Stortford provides high quality early years education for children aged from 2 to 5 years old. The Blues pre-school has been running for over 40 years, is highly regarded in the town and is a registered charity.

Our pre-school is bright, well-equipped and has a large, secure outdoor area for play and learning.  Blues aims to be a fun and nurturing setting for all of our children, where they can learn through play, form relationships and thrive.  We follow the Early Years Framework, (the statutory Government early years curriculum which all schools adhere to), to offer our children experiences and opportunities in all areas of learning. These include communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, maths, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.

We are registered and inspected by Ofsted and achieved a rating of Good in all areas at our last inspection. You can read our last inspection report here. Since our last Ofsted inspection we have updated the structure of our charity to a CIO and the charity commission issued us with a new charity number.

We have a well-qualified staff team (including a Graduate leader and a Special Educational Needs Coordinator [SENco]) and aim to offer a staff to child ratio which exceeds Ofsted requirements.

We offer flexible hours including full day sessions (school day, term time). Your child may attend from between 2.5 and 30 hours a week (subject to availability).

We hope you enjoy visiting our website and find it helpful, whether you are a parent/carer of a child currently attending Blues, an interested party, or if you are considering sending your child to our pre-school.
