Staff at Blues Pre-School

The majority of staff hold a recognized Nursery Nurse Qualification (NVQ, DPP or NNEB) or equivalent and all regularly undertake development courses. We have members of staff with Special Educational Needs training and expertise and all staff hold first aid qualifications which are regularly renewed.

Staff qualifications are displayed on the premises.

Ratios

Blues Pre-School strictly adheres to the ratios of staff per child set by OFSTED. The current minimum staffing ratios are:

1:4 children aged 2 years
1:8 children aged 3–7 years

We consider the interaction between staff and children to be crucial to learning and development. In the morning sessions we operate on a ratio of 1:6 and often have a parent volunteer helping out too. In the afternoon sessions when some slightly younger children attend, we operate on a ratio of 1:4.

Key Workers

We operate a Key Worker system at Blues. Your child will be assigned a member of staff who will be their, and your, personal point of contact. Your keyworker will help to settle your child into pre-school, will observe their progress and keep records of the achievements made within the pre-school. Whilst these records are strictly confidential, they are freely available to each child's parent or carer upon request. These records will be given to you when your child leaves Blues and if you wish, can be shared with staff at your child's next pre-school, nursery or school. This can help to ensure a smooth transition between pre-school and nursery and/or primary school.
